Closing the 24-25 season, OSNY presents Mendelssohn’s lovely choral symphony, Lobgesang (Hymn of Praise). This masterwork will be accompanied by the world premiere of Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell‘s All Shall Rise, exploring the timely topic of voting rights in the U.S., in the third OSNY-commissioned work by the composer/librettist duo. Jonathan Pierce Rhodes make his Carnegie Hall Debut as the Tenor Soloist

Apollo’s Fire | Classical Sparks

Mozart was profoundly influenced by two composers – his teacher, Franz Joseph Haydn, and his extraordinary French-African colleague, Joseph Bologne (Chevalier de St-Georges). Haydn’s strikingly virtuosic Symphony no. 8 “Le Soir” and arias by Bologne meet Mozart’s delightful Violin Concerto no. 3 played by Alan Choo. Jonathan Pierce Rhodes appears as the Tenor Soloist with the highly acclaimed baroque orchestra, Apollo’s Fire.

Blue | Chicago Lyric Opera

Blue is destined to become an American classic. Co-produced by Lyric, The Glimmerglass Festival, and Washington National Opera, the opera presents the moving story of ​​a Black middle-class family in Harlem whose hopes and dreams for their teenage son are shattered when he is shot by a white police officer. Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori’s magnificently moving music is matched by Tazewell Thompson’s probing, deeply sensitive libretto. Jonathan Pierce Rhodes sings the role of Policeman 2 and covers The Son.
